KETCHIKAN TRIBAL BUSINESS CORPORATION

To highlight some information about this relatively new and emerging business entity,

Ketchikan Tribal Business Corporation (KTBC) is a Section 17 Federal Corporate Charter created and 100% owned by Ketchikan Indian Community (KIC), a federally recognized Tribe located in Southeast Alaska.

     

It is worth mentioning that this new corporation was created by Ketchikan Indian Community to be an autonomous entity that can conduct business for the Tribe. 

Ketchikan Tribal Business Corporation -Milestones

  • The United States Department of the Interior - Bureau of Indian Affairs, Alaska Region provides KIC with  a Certificate of Approval for the KTBC Federal Corporate Charter (December 20, 2020).

  • KIC Resolution 21-03, approved by the Tribal council of Ketchikan Indian Community on January 21, 2021 ratified the KTBC Federal Corporate Charter.

  • The initial Corporate Board of Directors is appointed by the KIC Tribal council on February 17,  2021 under action item 8.21.

  • The Corporate Board of Directors elect the Officers of the corporation (March 2021).


Going forward this corporation will be seeking individuals that can lead us into the future. 


As we continue working to support the mission of KTBC, we understand the path ahead of us is going to be challenging, rewarding, and ultimately for the benefit of the Tribe.

FUN FACT # 1

No individual or legal entity other than Ketchikan Indian Community shall acquire any shares in Ketchikan Tribal Business Corporation and no interest in the Corporation may be voluntarily or involuntarily sold, transferred, pledged, or hypothecated.
